JSON Compare
Compare two JSON documents side by side
Paste two API responses, config files or payloads and see which lines changed. Both sides are formatted before comparing, so you only see real differences.
How to use it
- Paste the original JSON on the left. Click Use editor JSON to bring in what's in the editor.
- Paste the modified JSON on the right.
- Click Compare. Changed lines are highlighted on both sides and the two panes scroll together.
Example
{
"name": "JSON Studio",
"version": "2.0.0",
"private": true
}{
"name": "JSON Studio",
"version": "3.0.0",
"private": false
}Features
Side-by-side view
Original on the left, modified on the right, with line numbers on both.
Formatting first
Minified and pretty-printed JSON compare cleanly because both sides are normalised.
Synchronised scrolling
Both panes scroll together so lines stay aligned.
Private
Compare production responses safely. Nothing leaves your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does whitespace or key order count as a difference?
Whitespace does not: both documents are formatted before comparing. Key order does, because the formatted documents are compared line by line in order.
Can I compare minified JSON?
Yes. Minified input is formatted before the comparison, so you get a readable line-by-line result.
Can I compare the JSON I'm editing?
Yes. Click Use editor JSON above the Original box to copy the current editor document into it.
Is there a size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but very large documents take longer to compare because everything runs in your browser.
